Why sessions? As a student the benefits of yoga are revealed over time
and through a dedicated yoga practice. Your commitment to a specific
class will enhance your attendance and help you access the many
benefits that yoga has to offer. The primary focus of our instructors
is on teaching classes. By holding sessions we only handle registration
and payment collection several times per year. This allows the
instructor to spend more time interacting with students and answering
questions.
Class descriptions:
Gentle Yoga: The focus of Gentle yoga is on relaxation, stress
reduction, and light
stretching. This class is for any student who wishes to move at slower
pace and is
appropriate for students with limitations of the wrist, knee, hip or
back. It includes
breathing exercises, restorative poses and remembering that life is a
joyous journey.
Level 1: The poses in Level 1 classes build a solid foundation of
strength, flexibility and
an understanding of hatha yoga. This class is ideal for those new to
yoga or returning to
yoga after a long sabbatical. The class includes all of the basic
standing poses, hip
openers, forward bends, gentle back bends and twists. Many students
find this format to
be their favorite and choose to stay in these classes for years.
Level 2: A deeper awareness of the basic poses is created as confidence
and
endurance both grow. This level of class explores more challenging
poses and
incorporates preparation poses for arm balances, inversions and
backbends. This class
encourages you to grow in your yoga practice in a safe and supportive
environment.
Level 3: This class is for experienced students who have a dedicated
yoga practice.
Participants in this class can kick up into handstand at the wall and
push up into back
bend in the center of the room. Arm balances, inversions, and advanced
options for
basic poses are included. It helps to have a sense of humor in Level 3
classes.
Vinyasa: Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that means a flowing sequence of
poses. This
teaching style leads students through a practice at a continuous pace.
Students should
know and honor their limitations and self-monitor their practice by
deciding when to
modify poses or when to enhance them. Be prepared to move, flow and
glow.
Rockin Vinyasa: Practice to a variety of music from classic rock to
classic Indian
Hot: The studio is heated to around 100 degrees. As your body
temperature rises your
muscles increase suppleness and expand your capacity for flexibility.
Come prepared to
sweat with a towel (or two) in hand and your own yoga mat and water.
Meditation: A variety of meditation techniques will be incorporated to
enhance your
exploration of focused awareness and mindfulness.
Community Classes: These are mixed level classes where everyone is
welcome and
encouraged to attend for free or by donation. Community classes are a
blissful
celebration of yoga. Your attendance is a gift in itself but if you
wish to donate, all money
collected will be used for scholarships to workshops.
Lessons for Life Yoga: Lesson for Life Yoga incorporates asanas, breath
work, meditation and
an awareness that supports your practice on & off the mat. This is a
mixed-level class, everyone
is welcome. The only requirement is to bring your heart and leave your
ego behind.
NIA 5 Stages of Healing: The 5 Stages of Self-Healing consist of 5
powerful movements:
embryonic, creeping, crawling, standing, and walking. The object of
practicing the Nia 5 Stages
is to prepare the body to become more functional, energetic, and
comfortable while moving.
YogaiaPeace Yoga: Suitable for all levels, this gentle class may be
experienced as a moving
meditation. Class includes Invocation, meditative movement, traditional
poses and breathing
practices, and specific world peace healing meditations. see:

Start Me Up Yoga: An introductory class for those new to yoga or those
returning to yoga after

yoga class.
